One of the most striking and elegant makeup looks which popped up on the runways for Fall 2018 was the Bronzed smokey eye, which consisted of bronzed tones rather than the normally used silvers and grays. This is a look you can achieve with one tone or multi-tones, although if you’re new to this shade, I would practice using one color until you get the basics down pat.
Bronze is a color that I’ve always loved, primarily because it’s so well suited to a wider range of skin tones in my opinion. It’s not as cool as silver, and not as bright as gold, making it very versatile, hearty and earthy. Tip: if you want to up your eyeshadow game, add some warm turquoise tones ( both bright and dark ) and a brown in the crease to create a “patina” eyeshadow effect.
I really recommend getting a good quality shadow palette if you want to pull off this look. This Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact in Bronze is a great product that will last you for some time. It’s a built in color palette which gives you a beautiful gradient of bronzed colors. Sometimes it’s easier to purchase palettes that come with a color scheme or variated palette in the look colors you’re wanting to go for. With Bobbi Brown, you’re paying for quality, the amount of pure pigments in the product and the time invested to ensure not only is this product top quality but to make it easier to use right out of the box.
If you’re on a tight budget, then not to worry. I have a solution for you. This I Heart Makeup Chocolate Palette in 24K Gold is a gorgeous collection of mattes and shimmers.
It comes with a dual ended sponge, but I find these colors go on more smoothly when applied with a wet brush. When I’m creating a smoky eye look, I like to use a dense brush to pack the color on the lid, a fluffy brush to spread the lighter toned color to my brow line and a small, detailed liner brush to line the bottom eye lid.
This Luscious 7 piece essential brush set is perfect for anyone, especially If you’re in need of a good brush set and don’t know where to begin or which to choose. I always recommend getting a kit to start off with, even if it’s a small one. It can save you a lot of time because someone has already done the research and taken the time to put this kit together based on the most used and purchased makeup brushes.
This is a look that can be easily achieved in just a few steps. You don’t need a lot of shades; in fact, I only recommend using one shade of shadow to start with.
- Brush your bronze onto your upper lid and make sure to blend and smooth if you’re wanting a soft, romantic look. If the Punk look is your goal, then your edges can be much harder and more sharp.
- Use the detail brush to line the bottom eyelid so the look is cohesive.
- Finish with a dark mascara. I wouldn’t add heavy liner to this; I would do more of a tightline effect. Tight lining is when you dot liner in between the lashes on the top of the lid. Take your liner halfway when it comes to the bottom lid.
- Post and share your looks on social media! Don’t forget to use hashtag #Just4GirlsPK!
