Fall Survival Guide to Healthy Hair

Keeping your hair damage free during the Fall and Winter is extremely important. Image Credit FreeDesignFile.

Now that Fall is here, not only do we need to update our skincare and makeup, but our hair care routine as well. I’m certainly guilty of neglecting my hair, as I sometimes take it for granted.

However, the dryer the weather gets, the more damage your hair is prone to. Hair tends to have difficulty retaining moisture during cooler weather. This can lead to breaking, damage and frizz if you’re not careful enough.

A good, solid haircare routine for the Fall and Winter can help reduce the odds of damage and hair becoming brittle.

First, we must begin with the scalp. Our scalp tends to dry out and become irritated more quickly when the weather temperature drops. This is due to a significant lack of moisture in the air. Scalp issues such as dandruff and prolonged irritation can lead to hair fall. If you’re battling hair fall, then Sunsilk’s Hair Fall Shampoo and Conditioner are products you definitely need. They help moisturize the hair and scalp, thus reducing hair fall.

I’ll be the first to admit that I tend to forget to be good to my scalp. There are plenty of days where I just hop in the shower, wash my hair, hop out and dry with a blowdryer. This isn’t an ideal daily routine, because eventually, the scalp will suffer for it.

If you’re already dealing with fighting off dandruff, a good shampoo will help turn this situation around quickly. I recommend  Sunsilk Anti-Dandruff Shampoo.   It is specifically formulated to soothe and relieve the scalp, as well as eradicate dandruff.

Though most anti-dandruff shampoos are gentle enough to be used on a daily basis, I tend to only use them two or three times a week. I like to alternate with other haircare products which specifically add moisture to my scalp and my ends as well.

Frizz is another hair problem that needs tackling when the weather get colder. To combat this, you definitely want to get a good shampoo and conditioner formulated to keep frizz at bay. Frizz appears when our hair is in desperate need of moisture. Dry hair and scalp makes the cuticle rough. The outer layer of our hair sucks up all the moisture it can from the air around it. This causes the hair to become enlarged and frizzy.

If you’re using good products ( like this Sunsilk Soft & Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner ), they will add in enough moisture so your hair not only isn’t dry, but doesn’t go into overdrive seeking moisture. Happy hair, no frizz. Believe me, this is a method I’ve tested over and over again and it is legitimate.

Keeping a good daily routine is going to save you so much time and frustration in the long run. I finally realized that if I was consistent in my skincare, body care and hair care routine, then I would see overall less damage and aging issues. It takes three times the amount of effort to correct a problem once it’s there, so the better option is to participate in preventative care on a daily basis.
