How to apply liquid lipstick without looking like a hot mess….

Are you stressed over trying to create the perfect liquid lip look?

Liquid lipsticks have made a huge comeback in the last few seasons, and if you’re one of the many who haven’t mastered the fine art of applying (and choosing) the perfect liquid lip, fear not. You’re not alone, and you’re not the first person.

Applying liquid lipstick can be rather tricky, so here are a few tips on how to get the perfect application.

First, you want to make sure you’ve exfoliated and primed your lips. Some makeup artists like to use lip balm, others like to use actual lip primer. It’s your choice, but priming your lips creates a canvas which helps your product go on more smoothly (as well as reduces the chance of it drying your lips out).

The next thing you want to do is NOT rub your lips together. I know, that seems like second nature to all of us who have been wearing lipstick for a minute, but hear me out. You have to keep your lips open/apart for a few minutes or else it’s going to streak and smear your color.

Please, please, please….use a lipliner. I know there are all of those viral, fancy videos on IG and Facebook where some pro uses just the doe foot to create a perfect lip. I know, I’ve seen them, and it takes a LOT of practice to achieve this level. I’m not saying don’t do it, I’m just saying using a lip liner is working smarter, not harder. Feel me?

Add lip toppers once the lipstick is dry. I’ve read articles where it says don’t add liquid lipstick on top of liquid lipstick, and there’s good reason for that. It tends to make your lipstick look tacky, peel off pieces of color and ruin the work you’ve just put into it.
