Set a date with your perfect RED lipstick!

It’s not as hard as you think to find your 100% red lip color match!

Have you ever seen a super hot shade of red lipstick on Insta or Facebook, then gone right out and ordered it? Guilty as charged, here. But what about when you see that poppin’ shade and get home to find out it looks totally different on, or doesn’t suit you at all?

“But I have the same tone as the model in the pics!”

“We have the same hair and eye color!”

“It’s RED. Isn’t that a Universal color?”

All of these are amazing questions and the answer is a little more complex than just yes or no.

The most simplified reason as to why shades of red look different on different people is skin undertones. Just because someone may seemingly have the same skin tone doesn’t mean they have the same undertones.

How do you determine your undertones? Take a look at your wrist. If the veins appear greenish, then you have warm undertones. Bright blue signifies cool undertones. Sometimes they can appear both blue and green (depending on the season, the weather, the lighting) and this often is an indicator of a neutral undertone.

Once you’ve determined whether you are a warm or a cool, then go google search some color palettes. Pantone is an amazing source. There are even some apps now which simply common market lipstick shades into Pantone codes.
