Why Mini-Makeup is Still a Hot Commodity in the Beauty World

Mini-Sized Cosmetics are still the hottest thing in the business. Image Credit Sidne Style.

Smaller sized Beauty Products have been taking the world by storm for the past year or so now. At one time, finding travel sized versions of your favorite cosmetics was as easy as finding a unicorn. This is definitely no longer the case, as more and more companies ( both prestige and mastige ), are releasing travel sized minis of popular beauty products.

Its not necessarily about promotional tricks or even airplane friendly products. According to Julie Bell (the Executive Vice President of Global Marketing for Benefit Cosmetics ), minis give women “the opportunity to try a product they might not normally buy with minimum investment. In many cases, we see women buying the regular size for home and the mini size for their purse.”*

I’m definitely one of those women, no doubt about it.

Years ago, the only time deluxe travel mini sized cosmetic and skincare products were available was during free gift with purchase time. Estee Lauder was the first company to offer a free gift with purchase years ago, and the tradition has continued. Clinique and Lancome ( the other two brands in the “Big 3” Category ) followed suit and also began to offer free gift with purchase two or three times a year.

Gift with Purchase time was so popular that companies started “pre-selling” gifts to avoid long lines on opening day and to give customers the opportunity to secure their much-sought after gift.

Eventually, more and more companies started offering gift with purchase and through this, learned a very valuable lesson. They saw a huge decrease in customers purchasing full sized products unless it was around gift time. As people began turning more and more to You Tube and the internet for information on cosmetics and becoming more and more educated, brand loyalty started to become a thing of the past. People were now wanting to try a little bit of everything to keep their options fresh and to avoid getting into a rut.

This was the beginning of the Mini-sized revolution. Companies started offering more gift with purchase events and then eventually began offering a mini-bar selection. It’s now to the point where nearly everyone is offering minis either for purchase or as free gifts.

Here are some of my favorite mini-bar items, available at Just4Girls.pk:

  1. Benefit Bad Gal Bang Mini Mascara: This is one of  Benefit’s newer mascaras and it definitely lives up to the hype. I’ve really had a hard time choosing between this one and another mascara I love, so I tend to keep this one and my other favorite in mini form so I can switch back and forth. It gives your lashes super volume and length. Definitely worth a try.
  2. Becca Velvet Blurring Primer Perfecting Base Mini: Becca’s primers are absolutely worth what you invest in them. However, I’ve found that it’s best to go with a travel sized primer that you’re trying for the first time. Primers can be expensive ( especially prestige brands like Becca ), and while they are magic in a bottle, they’re not all universal. I’ve had some primers that made me break out, and others that made me feel greasy.
  3. Clinique Mini Long Lasting Lipstick in Runway Coral: Clinique is known for its poppy and peppy color choices. Especially with lipsticks. This is a gorgeous color which can be worn year round.
  4. Estee Lauder Daywear Moisture Creme with SPF 15 Mini: Daywear is one of Estee Lauder’s best selling skincare products of all time. This is because it is fairly universal and is perfect for normal to dry skin types. I also love that it has an SPF 15 as well. This is truly the best way to sample any kind of skincare product to make sure it is going to work for you.

Those are just a few of my favorite Mini-Bar items. Don’t forget to shop the Mini Bar Boutique at Just4Girls.pk. There is a wide selection of minis of all kinds from makeup to skincare!
